H&M x Balmain

On our third day after going shopping along the Champs-Élysée and scoffing some macarons from Laduree, which by the way is probably one of the most beautiful and busy stores in the world, we made our way to the Le Palais Royal close the Louvre to see the famous Colonnes de Buren, a highly controversial art installation created by the french artist Daniel Buren in 1985.

What I love about the installation are the patterns of the bold candy-striped black-and-white columns which are of different heights. They are placed following a grid pattern and in one sense the installation can be read as an exploration of the perception and intellectual projection of space. Placed in the courtyard of the Royal Palace there is such a great contrast between the beautiful old building and the fun pop art look of the installation. The light was starting to fade as we arrived but it was just so much fun, jumping on the black and white structures, taking photos and gazing up at the beautiful buildings. As the sun went down, the lights of the surrounding buildings got brighter so we ended up engulfed in a sea of hazy orange. Although this wasn’t great for photos it made it that much more magical!

I was wearing black thick heeled booties with white ripped jeans that I had got specially for the trip and a white chiffon long sleeve blouse. I have been loving the faux-fur coats that are so in this winter and so I wore that day one of my favourite pieces of the season, a shaggy green and black jacket from the Balmain x H&M collection!

I absolutely loved the H&M x Balmain collection, I thought it was one of the best colabsin a long while, and clearly by the rate at which it sold out worldwide everyone else pretty much thought the same as I did! There were so many iconic pieces which I could have chosen as my favourite, including the gold detailed velvet blazer that was worn by so many celebs and fashionistas and of course the bright green sequin plunge dress with thick belt but I just loved the rich green and the black of this coat! Just in time for winter, it was great to finally get my hands on such a beautiful piece! 🙂

I will be sharing the pics from our last few days in Paris tomorrow, but first here is one of my favourite Paris looks 🙂

Let me know what you think,

Hotel De Nell

Hotel De Nell

image

After attending lots of great meetings and having spent some busy days in Paris we decided to stay at the Hotel de Nell for some amazing luxury and relaxation time. The boutique 5* Hotel De Nell, is famous for it’s bistronomie and unparalleled service and I can quite honestly say that it truly deserves it’s incredible reputation with it being one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in – which is saying a lot because I have stayed in quite a few!

On our arrival the first thing that struck me was the hotel’s beautiful appearance, a very chic Parisian corner building who’s white painted facade, black ironwork and beautifully kept ornate bushes radiated style and shone in the light. We past through a large modern glass door into an entrance decorated with festive Christmas lights and trees. A lit glass fire glimmered in the glass wall separating the bar from the entrance made the modern white interior feel so warm and cosy. I couldn’t wait to see more of this absolute gem designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte and I had only taken three steps inside!

imageimageimage

You may have seen some of my Instagram photos and my reactions to our check-in – I think my words were “If only every hotel stay could start like this”… Why is that you may ask? Well, we arrived a bit early and as we waited for our room to be prepared we were greeted with cappuccinos and choux pastries that we enjoyed by the glass fire on the most stylish chairs I have ever seen! In fact all the chairs in the hotel were pretty special which really added some great character and design to the rooms!

image

So after we had reclined on our uber design chairs to our hearts content we were shown to our room. We were staying in a Chambre Luxe and the first thing that struck me when we entered was how big our room was ! I loved how light and airy it felt!So many nice rooms are beautiful but this one was truly special as three floor length french windows led onto a Juliet balcony which had the most amazing views of the most spectacular site, the impressive domed Conservatoire de Paris! Being able to see such a majestic building from your bed was a real joy. I can’t describe it as anything other than feeling as if you are starring in a Chanel N5 or a Jean Paul Gautier advert! What was the tag line again? “Je suis Chloe” *

*and then roll and flick your hair like a chic bohemian goddess…

The joy continued, when I checked out our bathroom! I know it sounds sad but seriously it was so cool! If there were ever “bathroom goals” then this would definitely be it! The room was clad in marble with his and hers sinks, an enormous shower which could fit about ten people and the most amazing marble Japanese bath, which was not only luxurious but also comfortable thanks to the wooden seat that lined the interior. I was so impressed as you can see from my video, I just couldn’t wait to give it a try!

After a great meal and nice wine at a nearby french restaurant recommended to us by the hotel staff, we made our way back to the Hotel de Nell where we were greeted with soothing classical music and complimentary Champagne. It was the details that really made our stay so special – I ran a big hot bath, which I perfumed with the most incredible Bvlgari teabags that we had been given and which smelt amazing. Chocolates & a pillow menu had been laid out on our bed and we read fashion magazines in our cotton bathrobes and slippers.

The breakfast in the La Régalade Conservatoire was of such high standard, made with market & local produce. Thick loaves of bread which powdered our plates with flower, rich creamy scrambled eggs and fresh juices. Bruno Doucet’s simple but very tasty bites were traditional and evocative, just like an authentic Proust Madeleine.

I couldn’t recommend this amazing 5* Hotel enough, it really is a testament Paris and France with great food, top rate service and amazing french design. If you want to see and experience the best of Paris then Hotel De Nell is the best place to start! Here is a short vlog of our stay and of our day site seeing!

Today we set off in search of the best views of the Eiffel Tower! After an incredible breakfast at le 5 Codet, which I decided to cut short on the 3rd course, not because I was full but because by then I had started to hate myself… you know the standard pre-Christmas “large eyes small stomach” kind of phase… we set off to see some of Paris’s beautiful sites! Although I grew up in France, I haven’t been that often to Paris and so the first thing I wanted to see and take photos of was the iconic Eiffel Tower!

After seeing the incredible Les Invalides and the dome of it’s famous church where many war heroes are buried including Napoleon Bonaparte, we  took the route that we had walked the night before in the light rain, past beautiful Parisien cafes and through the Champs de Mars. I was so excited to see the Seine which we crossed before running up the steps towards La Place du Trocadéro a beautiful public park with fountains and statues which is one of the best places to see the Eiffel Tower from! I was so excited and I was so impressed with the views that I forgot to run right up to the top…Doh! Oh well, I will just have to save that for next time 😉

I felt like a little kid, like the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower, when I travelled to Paris with the Pyrenees Oriental tennis federation and some of my best friends when we won a trip in a big regional tournament to see the tennis at Paris Bercy & to visit the grounds of Roland Garros. If any of you go to Paris, then don’t miss the views from La Place du Trocadero! With so much happiness and joy pulsating through my body we pushed onwards, towards the boutiques and one of the most beautiful streets in Paris, Avenue Montaigne.

One of the reasons why we were in Paris was to attend some important meetings in preparation of next fashion season with some incredible designers some of which have their flagship stores in this incredible iconic street. Black iron bars, beautiful Christmas decorations and window displays, and small ornate front gardens, the boutiques were so stunning! We had the pleasure of seeing so many lovely collections and so many iconic fashion birthplaces, including 30 Avenue Montaigne where in 1946 Christian Dior presented his first collection, after deciding that it would be perfect location for his “Maison”. I completely fell in love with the Dior Cruise 2016 collection of leather bags, who’s graphic symbols and imaginary words embossed like street art celebrate this season’s free, insouciant spirit. I just can’t wait to share with you some of the beautiful creations. including  and also the great surprises that we have in stall for you very soon! 😀 After our meetings we had some lunch in a beautiful Parisien cafe and then took the metro to Pigalle where I got my first glimpse of the Moulin Rouge before we headed up to Montmatre…

For my meetings and first day in Paris I decided to wear one of my favourite winter purchases, my black faux fur coat with leather cuffs. It felt so warm and cosy and yet looked chic and stylish, so I thought that it would be the perfect coat to bring with me to Paris. I wore it with a pair of denim flairs that have a beautiful red detail on one of the back pockets and small suede ankle booties that are comfortable but that give me some added hight, something that I think is key when trying to rock flares!

Let me know what you think,

Office to Festive

Office to Festive

image

I hope that you have all been having a great building up to Christmas! As some of you know from my Instagram & Twitter, I am writing this from Paris. I can’t wait to share the pics and the stories from our trip, but first I wanted to share one of my best style type for vamping up a classic outfit.

When I was doing my live stream interview for Passion4Fashion, I was picture from one of my readers of their office outfit and was asked by one them to share my thoughts as to how I could make it more fashionable, turning it into an evening or festive city style. I thought that the question was quite a good one as turning a plain look into something more special without going over the top is something that I myself have struggled with in the past.

My first big tip to to take your outfit our of the office is to add a statement necklace. There are some great pieces around in a range of prices and every type of necklace can really alter a plain top and in such a different way that people will actually think you are wearing a completely different outfit. I have been loving silver chain Dylanlex statement pieces and the cheaper alternative from stores such as ModayBesos and boho coin necklaces that you can find from most online retailers such as H&M.

My second tip is instead of buying a plain t-shirt, top or blouse, buy one that has some neck detailing, such as beads, a collar with detail or studs. One of my favorite pieces this winter has been a plain black Missguided body that has a beautiful lace-up design up the front. It goes with everything, isn’t too flamboyant but is a great and easy piece to wear to get an eye catching fashionable look.

Finally ripped jeans really add a fashionable touch to any look. I would either get an old pair of jeans and distress them or I would buy a cheap pair and experiment with them. It’s as easy as adding one cut over each knee and then giving the cut a quick rip.

So with some ripped jeans, a plain top with some neck detailing or statement necklace and a black leather jacket, you can easily go from office drap to Christmas fab! 😉

Happy styling everybody!

Winter Wonderland with Farfetch

Winter Wonderland with Farfetch

imageIt’s getting pretty cold over here in London and it still hasn’t snowed, but since the beginning of December things have started to feel and look super festive thanks to all the beautiful Christmas lights and  Christmas markets that have sprung up over town.

I was really excited when Eleasha, a lovely new friend of mine and founder of Duchess of Fashion, invited me to join Farfetch and some of London’s coolest fashion bloggers at Winter Wonderland, a giant fair set up in Hyde Park with rides, the most amazing wooden winter villages, shops and of course mulled wine, waffles and hot chocolate stands.

This really was the best way to start off the Christmas period not least because I truly love Farfetch. All of you fashionistas definitely need to check them out if you haven’t done so already, because they are literally revolutionising the way people shop for designer items.  They bring together hundreds of the world’s best independent designer boutiques, so you can shop and fine some of the most beautiful pieces all in one place, making it so much easier to find great looks at the best prices. Sounds pretty good to me! 😉

The day was so much fun, I met some lovely lovely fashionistas who’s blog are absolutely amazing, including Vikki the founder of Style and Minimalism, Camila Carril, Ellie Adams who vblogs & blogs at TheEllenexdoor and Sarah Monaco from I Bleed Fashion. We had so much fun walking around, taking pictures of Minions, drinking hot chocolate, freezing our socks off in the beautiful Magic Ice Kingdom, getting a little freaked out in the giant fairest wheel when the carriage started swinging in the wind and of course skating and in my case evil laughing at the poor people crawling round, holding on to the side of the rink, trying not to fall over on the ice. Awesome times! And awesome squad gaols for that matter…*Taylor Swift you ain’t got nothing on us! HA!

For our day out I was pretty sure it was going to be cold so I wore a long khaki green coat, thick scarf and green lace up heels, that I have worn so many times they are now not only stylish but also comfortable, even though they didn’t look it. Eleasha made me laugh when she coined the phrase “fashion before reason” in reference to my look…Yes, that’s me haha fashion before reason! I wore my favourite Farfetch accessory, the Michael Kors  ‘Jet Set Traveller’ shoulder bag, that I chose because I thought that it would be perfect for winter, for chic little outings and for adding a little bit of colour to my winter outfits.

I shared a lot of my day on my Snapchat (Abigail Royston) but unfortunately because I didn’t save it (a lesson I never seem to learn), it has now gone, but I did do two video edits with the app Tipit and luckily I do have some awesome photos of our day taken by Preston Photography, that are way better anyway that the snaps that I took anyway 🙂 I loved seeing London in the glistening sun from high above in the fairest wheel with Vikki and Ellie and the magic ice kingdom was beautiful beyond words, with the most incredible ice statues carved into ogres, fairies, castle walls, thrones and wildlife. Stepping in was like going through the wardrobe in Narnia.  I never usually go on rides or go into fun houses when go to fairs because I am scarred of rollercoasters and I think that showing any interest in doing things will encourage people to push me onto one of those insane drop machines or those star shaped wheels that make people fly, so doing those fun things, off the beaten track and away from the churros and candy floss stands, made the day extra special.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week too, thank you for your lovely comments.

Cocoon Luxe

Since London Fashion Week things have been crazy! Last week we covered one of the coolest tennis tournaments ever, Tie Break Tens, where we got to interview Andy Murray and John McEnroe, drink champagne in the VIP area and even go courtside! I have posted some photos on my Instagram and I shared the whole day on my Snapchat (AbigailRoyston) but within the coming days I will share all my pics and videos with you here and on Youtube, so if you love tennis like I do, then stay tuned!

I have been going to lots of business and fashion industry meetings but with the cold weather and rain here in the London, looking fab and making a good first impression isn’t always easy. Its so cold outside so all I want to do is wrap up, but then as soon as I get inside and sit down, the temperature goes right up, so it’s a bit difficult working out how many layers to wear.

So I was super excited to discover an amazing brand called Cocoon Luxe, who I discovered when I went to meet Pop PR, just after London Fashion Week and just before their press day which was amazing and which I can’t wait to tell you about soon! Their collection of  vintage inspired versatile capes are made with cashmere and timeless tweed fabrics that literally cocoon your body, keeping you warm but super stylish.  They really do make the perfect staples for any wardrobe, creating a perfect A-line, with the heavy wool giving just enough structure to create a seamless shape. The style is perfect for layering and I loved the way that you could customise the designs with initials and mix your choice of fabric with the cut.

I really loved the rich greens and browns, especially as they offer a really classy alternative to the more traditional blacks and greys of winter collections. The hoods are perfect for looking good in rainy weather and the cut is really flattering, which I is always a bonus because in the lead up to Christmas I tend to stop eating when I hate myself and not when I am full – especially if my Mum’s mince pies are involved! So here I am rocking some of my favourite pieces from Cocoon Luxe‘s SS2016 collection, with my favourite look definitely being the Harris Tweed Collared Cape which is so chic!

Let me know what you think 🙂

Fun Facts 😛

  • Harris Tweed is the only fabric in the world governed by an Act of Parliament.
  • Harris Tweed must be made according to the 1993 Act: ‘With 100% pure virgin wool, dyed, spun and finished in the outer Hebrides and woven by hand by the islanders at their homes on the islands of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra’
  • Every 50 meters of length of fabric is checked before being stamped by hand with the ORB which is found in every genuine Harris Tweed garment. No other fabric can call itself Harris Tweed.

Christmas is coming and we are having such a fun time. On the first we set off to Ikea to buy our Christmas tree and then by the second we had found enough ball-balls and tinsel to decorate it. As I am writing our living room is filled with lights and Christmas cheer and as the days are getting shorter I am loving snuggling at home in the warm and watching films, going to winter markets and seeing all the beautiful lights in the center of London. Have you got your decorations up yet? What do you like to do in the build  up to Christmas?

We have been shooting, going to brand launches and store openings and tomorrow we have the most amazing event ever, Tie Break Tens, a day of tennis featuring some of the world’s top players. I have a massive surprise coming for all your tennis lovers and I can’t wait to reveal everything to you tomorrow!

But before I tell all, I first wanted to share some pictures from my last trip to Spain, one of the places where I played a lot of ITF and WTA tournaments when I was playing tennis on the world tour. My parents and I did a bit of a road trip through Spain and one of our final destinations was Valencia. Valencia is a beautiful city, filled with grand buildings, large squares and orange trees. It is not only the birthplace of Paella, but it is also home to the most amazing science park, the location for my outfit shoot. I have written about Valencia and the traditional festival Las Fallas, where massive caricature sculptures are burnt after weeks of fireworks, bangers and the beautiful flower procession – where women from all over Spain, dressed in traditional costumes, come to offer their flowers to the Virgin. It truly is a special place and the science park, designed in the shape of whales and fish bones is mesmerising!

Spain has so many beautiful cities, if you could visit one where would you go? If you have been, which one is your favourite?

Two days ago I had the best day out at Winter Wonderland with Farfetch and met 5 super cool bloggers who all love fashion and who were so nice! The day was awesome, we went on the biggest fairest wheel, an ice kingdom, we drank hot chocolate and went ice skating. It was just so much fun, I can’t wait to introduce my new blogger friends to you and to share all our pictures and photos with you soon.

Meeting other bloggers is one of the things that I love most about blogging and I am forever grateful that I started My Girls On Tour and that I am now part of  such an awesome community. When I first started I had no idea that there were so many amazing blogs which are all so unique and really different, so it has been a real dream to getting to know the creators behind them, reading your comments and making friends with so many of you.

So here are some photos that I took when I was out with fellow fashion blogger Georgina, the founder of Georginahart.co.uk in Shoreditch, shortly after  I met her at London Fashion Week! It was quite cold so I decided to wear a camel coloured wool jacket  and leather trousers with detail on the knees. I thought that the leopard print shoes combined well with the faux-fur trim of the coat and gave off a jungle animal type of vibe, perfect for city life, because after all, what is the city if not one big concrete jungle.

Have you met anyone from the blogger community, perhaps one of your readers or someone who’s blog you love?
