2015 Highlights

2015 Highlights

Happy New Year everyone! It’s that time of the year again when we start choosing our New Year’s resolutions, dusting off the trainers and stocking the fridge up with salad and fruit! I would say that I don’t do resolutions, but let’s be honest OF COURSE I DO! Insert Awkward Monkey Emoji! In fact I love starting off the New Year in a super positive way. I always find that after a period of eating until I can no longer fit my trousers, January is always a good month to start a fitness regimes or diets and although I don’t tend to follow it through for the whole year, it feels good for the short time that I do do it! Better something than nothing right?! Do you have any 2016 resolutions and do you usually stick to them?

2015 has such an amazing year and I hope that 2016 will be even more exciting! In September I  finished my final law exams, the professional exams needed in order to be a fully qualified solicitor and Gustavo, my boyfriend and I, now live together 🙂 Finishing my exams gave me the freedom to dedicate more time on blogging and after a great summer travelling around Europe with Gustavo, My Girls On Tour was made an official blog of London Fashion Week by the British Fashion Council. One thing I would love for 2016 is to spend more time at home in France and also to see more of my friends! This past year I got to meet so many new friends, fellow bloggers and readers who share similar passions and interests and I hope to meet many more of you in 2016!

In this post I wanted to share some pictures of some of my 2015 highlights, from Christmas with my family and making new friends, to having over 100,000 of you sharing my dreams and adventures with me on social media and here on the blog. It has truly been a blessing attending so many amazing events and having the opportunity to work with so many great designers and some of my favourite brands. In fact I have been working really hard on some exciting new projects that I can’t wait to share with you in 2016! The blog that I started less than 2 years ago has completely changed my life and I can’t wait to continue this magical journey with you!

Happy New Year everybody! May 2016 bring you and your loved ones joy, happiness, success and may it be the year when all your dreams come true ❤

Love, Abi xxx

Cliff Jumping in the Algarve

Cliff Jumping in the Algarve

image

Ever since I left Portimao where I was playing a WTA tennis tournament with my friends in 2009, I have longed to set my eyes again on the green waters and yellow sandstone cliffs of the Algarve. We were setting off from our little house in Islantilla just across the boarder in Spain and so we would have to travel quite a way to finally get onto the stretch of coast where there are cliffs, coves and beautiful little bays. We therefore wanted to stop at a spot which would be breathtaking, yet as far East of Lagos (and as close to Spain) as possible. After a quick scour of a travel magazine we saw a few pictures and set off on our quest in search a beach like the one in Portimao.

We had arrvied at Praia Marinha and as soon as we stepped out of the car I knew that we had come to the right place. The golden cliffs loomed out of the water and I could see stacks, eroded stones and arches. People walked along a costal path and took pictures, but we set off down the windy cactus lined steep stone pathway down to the warm sandy shore. This place really is paradise and a must for anyone traveling around this area.

Lemon slush puppies and jumping off the rocks was in order and we did both after finding a place to lie our towels down amongst the many bathers who had made the trip to this secret little treasure island of bliss.

Today I wore a AX Paris lace dress with bare midriff which I complimented with a large pink flower that I picked up along the way. I spent most of my time in my La Senza swimming cozy though, so not many pics in the dress soz!

Let me know about the best beach you have ever been to or have heard about and where it is! I would love to know about some more hidden gems like Praia Marinha and perhaps maybe I or my readers will be able to visit them one day! 🙂 xxx

Cool as a Cuccumber

Cool as a Cuccumber

So yesterday I went to my first haute couture exhibition and I must say it was fascinating! It was a lovely sunny day, the temperatures here in London have been soaring…the figures are now into double digits (I know right!?) and Brits are melting away into pools of hot pink sweat even as we speak. The roasting is slow but the air isn’t dry. London is being dragged kicking and screaming into summer and is doing its best to fog us all out with hot clouds and threatening storms. Men walk around without their shirts on and anyone who hasn’t looked at the every changing weather forecast will have got caught out by this  tropical fever wearing a coat and long boots.

Black would be way to heavy and hot, but all white would be seen here in the city as a little too eager for a summer which really everyone is expecting but still isn’t sure will materialize. Colors have a somewhat soothing effect on me and so I decided to wear a very minty shade of green and to stay as long as possible round the fountains at the Barbican to try to keep myself as fresh as possible.

Now the other day I discovered an amazing website fashionbunker.com They sell the clothes of some great Australian designers, which are just perfect for hot weather. This top came from there and arrived yesterday, just in time! The fabric was really light and the cut out under arms meant that I was probably one of the very few that day not suffering from outrageous sweat patches! 😉 1-nil London! It also has a cut out back but the little crossing crossing straps still makes it feel quite formal and not too over exposing. I could easily wear this out, but today I chose to dress it down with short white shorts and green leather slip- ons. Let me know what you think and also how you stay cool in this hot weather? I am going to be off to Marrakesh soon once I finish my exams so would fully appreciate the tips! 🙂
