Dolce and Gabbana Dog Tag

Here is a closer look at the Dolce & Gabanna Dog Tag which I wore with my most recent G.I Jane meets Skater Girl outfit.

This story will make me sound like a bad person, but really I’m not, at least I hope I’m not! When buying presents for people, you are really supposed to buy things which you think that person would like, not something that you would like to get yourself. It is of course quite a good way of gagging if the person will like the present if you like it or would like it as a present for yourself, but of course that rule only really applies if you have a good taste.

Unfortunately for my boyfriend and family I am sometimes so pleased with the lovely presents I have bought them, that I really don’t want to hand them over and instead just what to keep them for myself. Please tell me someone else has ever felt this way!? Ok…I guess just me then…

Anyway, this Dolce & Gabanna Dog Tag was one such purchase. I saw it in a shop and as a Dog Tag was something which I had always wanted, I decided to buy it for my boyfriend. Strange logic really, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. He probably would of liked one too, I mean anything that makes a man look like a G.I can never be a bad thing right? What I had loved so much about this one, the lovely sparkly crystals which had looked so nice and elegant in the shop (on me, a girl) actually made him look either a bit camp or a bit chavy or a mixture of both chavy camp. It was such a shame, but luckily there is a silver lining to this tale – yes, you guessed it, I got to keep it for myself ;D

A dog tag is the informal name given to the identification tags worn by military personnel. It usually comes in two halves and is mainly used to identify a person if they are wounded or killed in battle. Many people do not agree with citizens wearing something designed to identify soldiers at war and really although made fashionable and popular ultimately through hot service men wearing them over their casual tank tops, it is debatable weather a real dog tag should be used as a fashion accessory. It is a very strong look and a silver tag will transform any t-shirt or plain outfit immediately projecting a sense of masculinity and strength. However, this Dolce & Gabanna design is for me a very very weak version of a military, especially with the crystals which give it a more girlie feel. What do you think, do you think that dog tags should be reserved for the military? Or has this look just been too over worked by non stylish rappers?

So this is my first attempt at uploading my fashion pic of the day – so hope it works! These are my new hand-made shoes from Filling Pieces, which I love. I must credit the find of these leather shoes to my boyfriend, who having bought a similar pair last week, told me to go down to the Box Park in Shoreditch and check them out. Needless to say it was love at first sight 😉 Let me know what you think ❤

Back and ready for rain

image

So everyone knows that it is easy to be stylish in the summer, when the sun is shinning. No need for combining and color coordinating hundreds of layers and definitely no need to choose between hypothermia or vaguely presentable. So, this is a post for all of you, who like myself struggle in the winter months to remain fashionable and stylish. Here, I have combined my Burberry rain coat with black warm jeans and a top from River Island. For more warmth I always add a black roll neck cashmere jumper, sometimes under the t-shirt. I can ward off the rain, brace the cold and yet not look like a tent. Result! 😉 What are your tips and secrets for dealing with the rain?

Adjacent to trendy Shoreditch, Brick Lane has become the Mecca of Vintage Fashion. London hipsters flock here in their droves. Used clothes, some designer others more like museum pieces can be used creatively to give your outfit a more retro look. Clothing is quirky, military jackets, jump suits, bowler hats and sequin dresses. This is the ultimate test for the fashion victim – to pick out and use these once discarded clothes and turn them into a vintage chic look.

This is the vintage jumper designed by Eleonora Scarmucci Milano that I bought. It has shoulder pads and I loved that it was ribbed. Here I have combined it with my killer heels from Aldo and hand-made Italian glasses from Trussardi for a chic stylish look.
