The Sun has come out today here in London and I am actually contemplating taking off my second overcoat…#heatwave #quickgetthesuncreamout #isthiscalifornia ?? OK, maybe not quite California, but still Spring is definitely in the air and what with ending exams and some upcoming trips abroad that we have planned, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite winter fashion trends this year, the wide brimmed hats.
At first I couldn’t quite get my head around the large black brimmed hats that so many of Chelsea’s elite were wearing around town because they reminded me too much of Salem Witch Trial, Pilgrim father headpieces and although rocking something that dates back to the 1600s could most probably be the ultimate retro revival, the square tops and the floppy brims were just not doing it for me…
BUT out of the fire came the phoenix and as a result of their popularity, other types of large brimmed hats started appearing in the shops and those on the other hand I LOVE! A straighter edge, less flop, a more rounded top, different colours…so much choice and not a voodoo doll, pumpkin pie or black cat in sight 🙂 So here I am wearing my two favorite types of winter wide brim – A mauve version of the Pilgrim father hat and a black stiff brim round top black hat. Let me know what you think? Which ones are your favorite hats this season?

It must be boiling there! We are in our usual Florida roller coaster ride…aka winter. Warm and windy…rain. Clearing and windy. Freezing and windy. Freezing and sunny. Then the cycle repeats.
Great set of photos too! And I am partial to the purple hat!
God save the queen…and the bees!

The hats are cool, and the rest of your threads are definitely not Puritanical. Did I just say threads? It must have been the neo-bell bottoms and your peace sign V. Yes, indeed, you have that hippie girl side, Abi. You may be dressed for California, circa 1967. Far out! 🙂
