Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a great start to the week! My final exams are coming up and each precious day and every hours now seems to slip through my fingers like sand! Although we couldn’t attend our invite to Milan Fashion Week 😦 We have recently been working on some exciting projects which I will be sharing with you within the coming weeks! We also have our first GIVEAWAY very soon so make sure you sign up to the blog by email to be eligible to WIN! 🙂
So here are some of my photos from last week, I have posted some already on my Instagram where you can follow me in “real time”. I am going in quite a lot to uni and going passed the iconic Tower Bridge every day on the bus and we had drinks on a beautiful terrace over looking St Paul’s which was just magical! Although the day is quite dark London’s streets have some beautiful flower stalls so I always try to brighten up my day by drinking in their colors! One of a joy’s of having a camera phone is being able to catch these lovely moments and share them with you! 🙂
I am sort of in “exam wars” at the moment and going outside in arctic winds seems a bit hardcore so the outfit that I wore to the park the other day I feel totally reflected this. When I was at school, I was part of the army core or a school cadet force. It was really just a fun extra-curricular activity but we passed tests and learned how to fire weapons, did night exercises where we would patrol forests and launch attacks with massive packs and blacked up with camo paint, learnt survival techniques and patrol formations. Every year we would spend week at an army barracks and do assault courses, camping, kayaking Bear Grylls style and then march out and receive our promotions. I tell people this now and they just think I was made or lying, but really it was so much fun!
Throughout the year we were issued with our own uniform, including full combat kit, boots and beret which we would change into before going. It was pretty amazing how even in the same “army uniform” some people looked smart and amazing like real like Tomb Raider Barbie Dolls and then others, like myself, just looked like G.I Joe who had had a bit too many jam doughnuts. To this day, I still can’t work out what Katie Brawley was doing differently to her collar and cuffs, and try as I may to mold my beret with steam, it never lost that baker’s hat look and was as slick or as flat as hers. I am still in awe…
At the end of the year we had to hand all our kit back, which now thinking about it is sort of a shame because some of the pieces would make really cool retro pieces for an outfit, perfect to wear around East London, but luckily I realized a few weeks ago that the thick and very warm army issue jumper hadn’t been handed back! So here I have styled it with some ripped jeans, nude stone heels and pink beaded top which I thought looked nice with the green and created a feminine look. This winter I have loved wearing circular knitted scarves which have both ends attached together. They really are comfortable, warm and practical as they can double as a hat without falling off! Over it all I threw on a thick vintage coat and voila! Ready for battling work, the elements in the park and crazy city living!
Let me know what you think? What have you been up to these last few days?

That is pretty cool you are taking part in this group although I doubt you look like a dumpy G.I. Joe! You need a flat top and some facial scars to have that look nailed! Anyway, it is good to have some training so you can be the calm one when there is an emergency and everyone else is running mad.
Well, enjoy the battle…the battle of finals and the battle to have a warm week! Sure you will do great.

Hahha lol Facial scars and flat top lol Thank you so much for your encouragement and positive words 🙂 Yes the group was really fun, sometimes a bit more serious than I had thought but then as you say it’s always good to be prepared in case something goes down 😉 lol Hopefully things will go well! I hope you are having a good start to the week? Abi xxx

My week is off to crazy start. I work in a resort and it is inspection time. So everyone is losing it! Send the employees out to wash the squirrels! Thankfully I am off on Wednesday so I have one day left of the mayhem.

Like the combat-ready look. Maybe a little Clash music as the retro soundtrack. About those arctic winds. We had 16 inches of snow in Detroit this week (6 cm. to you). Stay warm.

Tom!!! We saw some pictures of Boston today on the news because the Mayor of London is over there and its covered covered in snow! I can’t imagine in Detroit, it must be freezing, 16 inches of snow is so much! Does your transport still run properly? If that happened here everything would be grid locked! I hope the sun comes out soon and melts it all away quickly 🙂 I am so pleased you liked my outfit hahah I agree some Clash music playing in the background would of been perfect! Abi xxx
