When I first heard of YOLO I thought people were talking about a type of sushi that has salmon and avocado in it. After a few calls to my local Japenese take out and a Top Table Google search for restaurants that serve YOLO, I realised that this wasn’t a buff sounding morsel but in fact a word incorporating one of life’s most important philosophies: Carpe Diem, Seize the Day, Life in the Fast Lane, You Only Live Once… YOLO. A dim light bulb went off in my head and at lightning speed I logged in and updated my Facebook status to “Fried Chicken and Chips with Coke and Chocolate Fudge Brownie for Breakfast, YOLO”… DONE! Few!
So now that I have just narrowly avoided missing a place amongst societies most daring adventure seekers, I can now go back to painting my room…Crisis avoided!
The attitude behind YOLO is often people’ reasoning for leaving their jobs and going traveling, taking a gap year, bungee jumping whilst on holiday and doing reckless and fun things. Indeed that rush you get when you book your trip away can only be summed up by YOLO, as can those crazy travel anecdotes, reckless activities, summer love and joie de vivre that comes with the thrill of the unknown. Could this be because we not most alive when we are at our most vulnerable?
So whilst redecorating my room, I thought that it would be fun to do some old school wall grafitti and here I am in my painting dungarees, getting paint EVERYWHERE! I really liked this H&M crop top as it not only sums up a key idea behind My Girls On Tour and travel but the “You Only Live Once” motto is written in the same font as Yves Saint Laurent! Let me know what you think about my choice of room color… I haven’t done all the walls yet so its not too late!
