Day 2 London Fashion Week: Monochrome Backpack Kids

So my second outfit to London Fashion Week was inspired by my love for monochrome. Today we went to Somerset house, which was so beautiful and which is right next to my old law school, the Dickson Pool School of Law of Kings College London. We arrived at the entrance, only to be handed free mini drinks and invites to more things! Fashionistas were all around us as photographers sapped away. A huge screen loomed up ahead, live streaming images from the catwalk. I loved seeing all the different styles of the guests and I couldn’t wait to find the dapper little sausage dog, Sergio the Shoe Hunter.

The first show I went to was to Julien Macdonald, which was a beautiful collection of embellished dresses. This was then followed by the Top Shop Unique show, which featured lots of sporty but saucy dresses. I really liked the playfulness of the collection and the way that the blue and red dresses really stood out from the crowd. Lace and sequins definitely seem to be this seasons must have!

I decided to wear a very long black cardigan as the main feature of my look. I combined it with a black top and some leather bold strap pair of thick heels for a hipster look. I really like the idea of monochrome and geometric shapes as a statement, and so decided to wear a pair of white triangle skorts and large sphere pearl bracelet to really contrast and stand out as strong edges and shapes against the black cardigan and top. I finished off the look with a cream and black lined back pack which really brought the whole outfit together and mixed both black and white together, the colours which at the front of my look are really contrasting against each other. Hope you like the look 🙂

I am an ex-professional tennis player and have just graduated from King's College in London. I share daily fashion outfits and stories of my travels and the tour. Every story has a beginning, but I will start mine here, at the start of something big. For us this was a journey of a lifetime, where dreams were made and broken, where friendships were cherished and torn apart. We lived and still live the life of aspiration and we tell the tale of victories and defeats that come with growing up at such a young age on the brink of greatness and fame. In our world youth, beauty and riches combine. We trained hard but played even harder. Our parties’ were and always will be legendary, our travels exotic and carefree. We were becoming stars. My Girls On Tour showcases street style looks, avant-garde fashion, new designers, fashion shows as well as travel stories and adventures. A fun window into the glamorous world of a professional tennis player turned fashionista, this is the place for wonderlust and fashion inspiration. Instragram @abigirlx Twitter @Abigailroyston

    1. Oh thank you so much! I’m so glad you like the monochrome look 😉 Yes Miss Selfridge is a nationwide UK high street store which began the young fashion section of Selfridges department store in London. They always have some lovely things and it was there that I bought my 1920s dress for the Gatsby Ball. I saw the buckle shoes and just loved them, so I’m happy you do too! Fashion Week was like a dream, it was super super fun, I still can’t believe I got to go!xxx

    1. Thanks so much! I saw so many things in the shops that were beige with thin black lines, like trousers and blazers and I really liked the look but thought “how many times am I actually going to wear them” – so I held off. That’s why this bag was so cool, because it had that same pattern but was a lot more discrete and just goes with everything! It’s quite big too so really haddy around town with the laptop etc. The heels I fell in love with straight away so I’m glad you like them too! 🙂 Thank you for your lovely comment and so glad you like the look! ❤ Abi xxx
