Tiger Tiger

I was 7 I was when at a village market I decide to spend 70 Francs (approx 5£) on a hat. This was my most expensive purchase to date and I can remember my Dad looking at the pill box hat and then at my tiny head and saying: “Are you sure you really want to buy that”? I had seen this look only once before, when I had asked him to cut all my long blonde locks off and give me a bowl cut, to resemble the close crop that my best friend had been given for her ear pinning back operation. I thought that she looked so cool and then I had mine done and I just looked like a freak. My primary school teacher exclaimed:”Oh! I thought that was a little boy in a dress!” :/ Anyhow, I bought the hat and gradually over the years have collected more and more strange bonnets and weaved bowlers. They don’t look bad, but I never seem to wear them. So after my trip to Morocco where the streets were strewn with Fez hats, I decided to get the Tiger printed Pill Box hat out of my draw, because although I haven’t worn it, I haven’t ever thought twice about dragging it around with me and on to my next house. Tiger Tiger is the center piece of today’s look.

What are you most crazy childhood purchases? Which ones do you still use or wear? Let us know 😉

Every story has a beginning, but I will start mine here, at the start of something big. For us this was a journey of a lifetime, where dreams were made and broken, where friendships were cherished and torn apart. We lived and still live the life of aspiration and we tell the tale of victories and defeats that come with growing up at such a young age on the brink of greatness and fame. In our world youth, beauty and riches combine. We trained hard but played even harder. Our parties’ were and always will be legendary, our travels exotic and carefree. We were becoming stars. My Girls On Tour showcases street style looks, avant-garde fashion, new designers, fashion shows as well as travel stories and adventures. A fun window into the glamorous world of a professional tennis player turned fashionista, this is the place for wonderlust and fashion inspiration. 1. Hi Tom, thank you for your poetic words! It was a nice coincidence that this wall worked so well with the outfit or at least the outfit with the wall. This is part of the new Stratford Olympic park. These picture were taken when we were walking through the park over to the shopping mall from my house, which is right next to it. Glad you liked it 🙂 xxx

    1. I’m sure my 7 year old self didn’t realize it at the time but luckily for me it is quite timeless 🙂 That is a great idea to wear it with a black dress and the hat would be a great way to keep a little bit warmer as the sun abandons us for warmer shores. Thank you for your insightful comment and for your kind words! Glad you like the nail polish too! Any other nice color ideas? Abi xxx

  1. That hat is so adorable!! I had a cropped tank sweater that I used to wear haha it sounds so gross but it was a light knit, kinda preppy! But I absolutely loved it! Eventually it got too cropped and my mom made me get rid of it but certainly a weird piece I loved as a kid haha X

    1. Great Haha! Thanks so much for your kind words and for sharing your crazy kid purchase with me! Preppy crop top sounds petty nice though, I bet it looked great! Nothing better than wearing tight kid clothes and denying the fact they have gotten too small!I’ve still got a few childhood crops of my own still lingering at the bottom of my chest of drawers which I keep just in case I miraculously one day get a 6 pack. I swear I am not a hoarder :/ xxx

    1. Thank you! I liked your post on how to do eyeliner, its something I find really hard to do! I can remember the first time I did it before a Halloween party when I was 12 and I made the mistake of doing it wrong after having finished all other make-up – so had to wipe it all off and start again! I will be checking you blog for some more beauty posts and also for your next destinations! 🙂 Abi xxx
